Costs
The rites of Modern Mummification are a very elaborate, detailed, thorough, and lengthy process. Because of this, Summum incurs extensive costs. Summum is a qualifying organization (as defined by the IRS) whose purpose includes providing burial services that directly support spiritual matters. Therefore, we request a donation from the family to cover the costs so that we can make this valuable tradition available to them.
Mummification costs are integrated into at-need or pre-need arrangements made through your funeral home.
- Mummification: The donation for Summum to provide Mummification services is $67,000* within Continental United States. From the donation that Summum receives, Summum will pay your funeral home $5,000 for preparing and eviscerating the body of the deceased.
- Mummiform: The family has the option of choosing:
- A sculpted Mummiform, or
- A plain capsule case that is sealed within a full couch stainless steel or bronze burial casket. The casket is purchased by the family from your funeral home.
Upon your client's passing, Summum must receive the donation prior to commencing preparation of the body. At that point, Summum will instruct you to conduct the preparation and evisceration of the body and will promptly provide you with payment. Your funeral home then has the body transported in a combo air tray by air carrier to Summum's sanctuary in Salt Lake City, Utah. Payment of transportation fees of the body to and from Summum must be made by the deceased's family.
Summum cannot accept any body nor will we instruct you to prepare the body unless full payment is received by Summum. Summum also reserves the right to refuse Mummification services (rites) under certain conditions.
